Investitionsruinen sind längst nicht mehr nur ein ungewolltes Wahrzeichen Spaniens. In den meisten europäischen Ländern prägen sie das Stadt- bzw. Landschaftsbild. Die Gründe für die Ruinierung sind dabei vielfältig. Mal handelt es sich um privates Scheitern, mal um Opfer der Korruption, mal aber auch um pure Fehlplanung. Eines haben die Motive dieser Arbeit jedoch alle gemeinsam: Sie haben ihre Zukunft in der Vergangenheit und verharren so in einem Zustand zwischen Noch-nicht und Nicht-mehr. Allesamt wurden sie nicht fertiggebaut und nie ge- oder umgenutzt. Es drängt sich die Frage auf, ob diese Ruinen unserer Gegenwart das Pendant zu jenender Antike bilden und so eine Parabel für unsere vom Kapitalismus geprägte Gesellschaft geworden sind. Die Gebilde haben mit dem Abbruch des Entstehungsprozesses ihre Daseinsberechtigung verloren, stehen nun aber als Mausoleen der Spekulation in den verschiedenen Ländern.

Investment ruins are no longer just an unwanted landmark in Spain. In most European countries they shape the urban and rural landscape. The reasons for ruin are manifold. Sometimes it is private failure, sometimes it is the victim of corruption, but sometimes it is pure bad planning. However, the motives of this work all have one thing in common: they have their future in the past and thus remain in a state between not-yet and no longer. All of them were not finished and never used or reused. The question arises as to whether these ruins of our present form the counterpart to those of antiquity and have thus become a parable for our society shaped by capitalism. The structures have lost their right to exist with the interruption of the process of creation, but now they stand as mausoleums of speculation in the various countries.
