The always same blocks of flats have lost all reference to the human being as an individual, they have been depersonalised. Due to the constantly recurring forms, it is completely irrelevant in which city or country a building is located, it is the same house everywhere.

In this work we can see the same housing apparatuses in Valencia and Rome. The difference between the two cities, or even countries, is not discernible to the viewer.

Arbeitslandschaft

English:
In this work, working landscape is not necessarily an environment that suggests the taking place of work, but rather an idyll destroyed by functional buildings. For as an idyll we are able to see a meadow, a monotonous field despite intensive agricultural use, because our perception of landscape is shaped by the age-old tradition of cultivating the land and we associate landscape and idyll with the image of a field or a field. On the other hand, it is also about a changed relationship to reality, which is expressed in the outer forms of the „working shells“ and in the choice of their locations. It is the consequence of a constantly changing world, in which it is our own consumer behaviour, about the consequences of which we are so fond of complaining. And yet, representing many things, we will have no choice but to integrate the new working landscapes into the habits of our way of seeing.

EUR

The photographs in this series were taken in EUR, a district of Rome built by Mussolini. The architecture, which actually testifies to an age of totalitarian power, has an undeniable aesthetic that is warm and inviting rather than admonishing.

Scheitern. Aufgelassenes Europa

English:
Investment ruins are no longer just an unwanted landmark in Spain. In most European countries they shape the urban and rural landscape. The reasons for ruin are manifold. Sometimes it is private failure, sometimes it is the victim of corruption, but sometimes it is pure bad planning. However, the motives of this work all have one thing in common: they have their future in the past and thus remain in a state between not-yet and no longer. All of them were not finished and never used or reused. The question arises as to whether these ruins of our present form the counterpart to those of antiquity and have thus become a parable for our society shaped by capitalism. The structures have lost their right to exist with the interruption of the process of creation, but now they stand as mausoleums of speculation in the various countries.
